This insurance is mandatory according to the “Employers Liability Insurance” Law. This is a comprehensive insurance program for foreign employees. With a decision determined in relevant regulations, employers are required to cover the medical expenses of their foreign employees as a condition for securing the work permit with insurance limits determined by the Law.
Basic Coverage
The basic coverage of the Insurance Policy includes:
- Coverage of expenses due to accident or illness:
- Inpatient and outpatient care.
- Maternity benefit.
- Corpus Repatriation expenses.
Optional covers (for domestic staff only):
- Legal liability of the employer in relation to death or physical injury from an accident or occupational disease arising from and during the foreigner’s employment.
The following minimum limits are applied that satisfy those provided by the relevant legislation:
- For each employee €160,000.
- For each incident €3,417,203.
- For each insurance period €5,125,804.
Exceptions:
The Policy is subject to exclusions, some of which are:
- War risks.
- Terrorist acts.
- Nuclear radiation, environmental pollution.
- Pre-existing diseases.
- General examinations, preventive examinations, routine treatment (Check-Ups), inoculations and vaccinations.
- Gynaecological problems that occur within 6 months from the start of the coverage.
- Refractive illnesses or eye disorders accompanied with the provision or application of visual or audio means.
- Dental (unless it is the result of accidental injury).
